Spread tow carbon fiber woven fabric is an advanced type of composite material, known for its outstanding strength-to-weight ratio. It is constructed by spreading carbon fiber tows (bundles of continuous carbon fibers) into thin, flat tapes before weaving them into a fabric. This spreading process allows for a better alignment of fibers and a more uniform distribution, which can significantly enhance the mechanical properties of the fabric.

FEATURE
Lightweight:
Carbon fibers are inherently light, and the spreading process reduces crimp – areas where fibers are bent – thus providing a lighter fabric compared to traditional carbon fiber fabrics.
Increased Strength:
The alignment and distribution of fibers increase the tensile strength (resistance to pulling forces) and the load-carrying capacity of the composite material.
High Stiffness:
Carbon fiber is known for its outstanding stiffness, which means it resists deformation under stress.
Durability:
Spread tow fabrics have increased abrasion resistance and durability due to the efficient use of fibers and reduced amount of matrix (epoxy resin) needed.
Enhanced Surface Finish:
The flat, smooth nature of spread tow fabric leads to a better surface finish after production, beneficial for applications where aesthetics are important.
Reduced Weight:
The material provides potential weight reductions for applications where less material can be used without sacrificing structural integrity.
Thermal and Electrical Conductivity:
These fabrics can be tailored for specific conductivity properties, desirable in various applications.
Corrosion Resistance:
Carbon fiber does not corrode, making it suitable for use in harsh environmental conditions.

APPLICATION
Aerospace and Aviation:
for parts like fuselages, wings, and propellers.
Automotive Industry:
in high-performance and race cars, especially for body panels, chassis, and other structural components.
Sporting Goods:
for manufacturing lightweight and strong equipment like bicycle frames, tennis rackets, and golf clubs.
Marine Industry:
in the construction of hulls and masts for performance boats and yachts.
Wind Energy:
for creating strong and lightweight blades for wind turbines.
